Objective:
The project (Project code: Τ2ΕΔΚ-04083) is expected to make significant progress beyond the “Current Technological Level” for Greece in the field of Diagnosis, Preservation, Documentation and Demonstration of Historic Cultural Monuments and especially of traditional vessels, as it will develop new innovative methodology, tools and approach in terms of the protection and preservation of the country’s Newest Cultural Stock and the Intangible Cultural Heritage, focusing on Traditional Boats and Traditional Shipbuilding. Particularly it should be stressed that the project is negotiating an innovative approach to the acute problem of the imminent uncontrolled collapse of wooden boats that have not been preserved for many years, although they have been designated as monuments. The proposed intervention procedure is in line with the recent regulation foreseen in Law No.4481 / 2017 on movable monuments and preserves as much as possible both the material and intangible characteristics of these vessels, which made them unique examples of Greek shipbuilding.
